These are my moms dates squares at least they come closest to my moms - she doesn't use a recipe she just makes them and i like hers the best....I don't recall when i had my first but i must have been in school i think. My son started to eat those when he was not even 2 years old and he loved them sooo much he could put away loads of them. He would become all smiles and happy faced - the same was with turnovers from leftover pie dough and filled with home made jam and a almond flavored glaze - that was a very nice treat he favored those over the pie and i was the same as a kif nothing bettern then turnovers wiht strawberry jame and almond glze and lots of sprinkles on them....
