Homemade German Kaiser Rolls ~**~ Easy Recipe
Milk Buns
this is a classical breakfast yeast roll in Germany - sometimes raisins are added or a chocolate chips... this is the plain version. I made it as I wanted a nice base for my new jam... Alissa
1/2 fresh yeast cake
1 Tbsp sugar
1/4 liter lukewarm milk
1 tsp salt
1 lb flour
2 tbsp soft unsalted butter
1 egg
lined baking sheet
Dissolve the yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk and then mix together with the other ingredients and knead into a nice soft dough. put in a bowl and cover with a damp cloth or put in a Tupperware box with a tight lid and let rest in a warm place for 45 min.
Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C. Knead the dough and form 12 buns and place on baking sheet and let the buns rise another 15 minutes. Brush the buns with lukewarm water and put in the oven on the medium height. pant a oven proof dish with a bit of water in the oven. bake 25 min till golden brown.
